Although I enjoy your presentation of the weather, I was VERY disturbed on your encouraging comments about the Bright Angel Trail at the Grand Canyon being able to be hiked down and back up in the same day. With all the rescues we hear about nearly every day here in the Phoenix area on 3 - 5 mile trails, your comments are potentially LIFE THREATENING! We are talking 21 miles!!!!! That's all some hiker, who may be in good shape and hikes a lot, but not familiar what awaits them at the bottom needs is your suggestion that the round trip is doable in one day!! 99 % of hikers would not even attempt doing what you suggest is doable, but it only takes one listener, maybe a first year resident or visitor, that like you, ignores the signs posted at the start of the trail that WARNS hikers not to attempt to hike down and up the same day. A hiker that has never hiked this trail will not realize that there is desert heat at the bottom. A person in good shape, or even one who hikes alot ,probably does not know how much water and energy drinks they should consume, as well as energy bars, and other foods that will restore their energy and hydrate them. Most hikers, who have not hiked in higher elevations, can not begin to realize how much energy it takes, and the amount of additional time it takes to go back up the trail then it took them coming down! I feel if you wanted to boast about you being able to accomplish this hike in one day, instead of encouraging others it can be done in one day, you should have issued a disclaimer about the dangers...your promoting the one day hike was in VERY POOR taste and I hope no one dies or has to be rescued because of your comments!
